A Portuguese-era house behind a laterite wall, restored with almost nothing added. The floors, the shutters and the courtyard are the ones it was built with.
Four bedrooms sit around the courtyard, so nobody walks through anybody else's room. The verandah runs the length of the house and takes the afternoon — that is where everyone ends up, and where dinner happens if the evening is warm enough.
The cook has been here longer than the owners. Ask her what she'd make rather than handing her a menu, and eat that. Two nights is enough. Four is better.
Free cancellation up to 14 days before arrival. {{ minStayNote }}
Book the second evening here, not the first — you'll want the kitchen at home on night one.
Friday morning only. Go early, go hungry, and give the cook a budget.
Leave at six with a thermos. Back before the house is awake.
A river house in Siolim, a top-floor flat in Anjuna, seven rooms inside a fort at the top of the state, and a ten-sleeper in Aldona with a chapel in the garden.
